George was the son of William Harrison Dunnagan and Eliza J. Davis.

During the 1898 Spanish-American War, George served with the 1st US Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (Roosevelt's Rough Riders). On 15 Feb 1899, he enlisted with the Hospital Corps and went on to serve during World War I.

George was interred in the Inglewood Park Cemetery (Headstone Application).
