Cyrus Sargent, the reported wealthiest
man in Grant County and an old settler,
met his death on Monday on one of his
farms near Bloomington. He fell from the
top of a load of straw. Death resulted in
two minutes.

Cyrus Sargent, living a mile and a
half west of Bloomington, was thrown
recently from a load of hay and killed,
the fall breaking his neck. Mr. Sargent
was a native of Ludlow, Vt., and came
to this state in 1852. He was one of the
largest farmers and land owners in Wis-
consin, owning about 100 large farms on
Blake's prairie, besides large tracts of
land in Iowa and California. His wealth
is estimated at over a $1,000,000.

bible and hid smaller sums in fence
