Elizabeth was born in Swoyersville on Nov. 9, 1914, daughter of the late Adam and Eve Lacek Filip. She attended the Swoyersville schools and had resided in the Newtown section of Hanover Township for most of her life. Mrs. Hmelovsky was employed by the Duplan Mill, Kingston and Herman Funke's Quilt-ing Mill, Ashley as a sewing machine operator until her retirement. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church, Ashley/Hanover Township, where she was an active member of the St. Ann's Guild, the Sacred Heart League and the Sokol's Society. She was very helpful in all church affairs including, dressing the alter and donating her time at various church functions. She was also a member of the Ashley-Newtown Card Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C., who died Dec. 24, 1984; sisters, Mary Baldovsky, M. Judithia, Eve Lazar and Helen Liba; brother, Steve Filip. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 from the George A. Strish Inc., Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Holy Rosary Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
