Records from the Confederate General Hospital, Danville, Virginia, as well as other Confederate records, list him as dying in the hospital. Some records indicate he died June 25, and others June 31.
He married Martha J. Fowler on Sept 7, 1857, in Perry County, Alabama. In the 1860 census, they are living in the same county and have no children.
