Merlin was a life-long resident of the area. He graduated from Cuba City High School in 1964 and began service in the Army in October of 1966. His tour of duty in Vietnam began April 7, 1967. He was killed in action. He served as a RTO (Radio Transmission Operator) with Battalion Recon, Company E, 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, Vietnam. A casualty of Operation Enterprise. Merlin was survived by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Merlin is honored and remembered on The Vietnam Memorial Wall at Panel 26E, Line 102.
