Chester Akridge, 72, a retired farmer of Salleetown Road, Campbellsville, son of the late Paul Akridge and Addie Mae Osborne Akridge, was born in Green County, Feb. 20, 1920. He died at 6 a.m., Friday, Nov. 20, 1992, in Louisville after an illness. Akridge was a member of the Spurlington United Methodist Church. He graduated from Campbellsville College in 1941 with honors. He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the United States Army. He was married to Helen Johnson on Sept. 27, 1946. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons and three daughters, Alfred K. Akridge, Buffalo, David F. Akridge and Paul E. Akridge, both of Campbellsville; Sherry Enlow, Acworth, Ga., Beti M. Turner, Elizabethtown, and Annette Jefferson, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; one sister and one brother, Beatrice Montgomery, Campbellsville, and William H. Akridge, Louisville; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Akridge on Aug. 26, 1981. The funeral was at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville with the Rev. Clarence Bertram and the Rev. Bill Akridge. Graveside services were at 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23 at the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens with military honors by Taylor County Chapter #70 D.A.V. Honor Guard.
