She was the daughter of Solomon F. Ashbrook and Lillie L. Dickens Ashbrook. The family story is that she and her family left Kentucky when she became pregnant with her son, Pete Davis. She married Bernie Potter and then Edgar Davis (4 Sep 1914). 5 days after her death, Edgar married her sister, Alva and they had at least 5 children. Pete Davis took the name of both stepfathers, sometimes going by H.B. Bernie Potter and sometimes by Pete Davis.
