United States Government Official. Born in Queens, New York, he graduated from Fordham University in 1934 and received a law degree from St. John’s University of Law in 1937. During World War II, he served with the Office of Strategic Services and he became head director of the Secret Intelligence branch in Europe. After the war, he practiced law and was involved in politics. He served in the Nixon Administration as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (1971-73), as Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs (1973-74) and chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, (1974-76). In 1980, he was the campaign manager Ronald Reagan and after Reagan took office President, Casey was appointed head of the Central Intelligence Agency. As CIA Director, he oversaw the entire United States Intelligence Community‘s affairs. While still in office, he died at age 74 of a brain tumor at a hospital in Roslyn, New York.
