Little is known about John & Elizabeth. In a biography by their granddaughter, Sarah (Myers) Harriger, she lists them being from "east of the Alleghenies". It is believed they came from Centre Co area into Clarion Co. John Myers arrived in Sligo about 1820, according to The history of Clarion County, edited by A.J. Davis, 1887. Chapter LXIV. History of Piney Township.

However, there is a John Myers listed in the Toby Township, Armstrong Co., PA (Piney Twp, Clarion Co., where his descendants mainly reside, was later formed from a portion of Toby Twp, Armstrong Co) census as early as 1810.

Gladys (Myers) Buck, age 89 9/12, recalls that "someone told her" Myers family came to the USA - there were 7 brothers. After their arrival they went different directions in the USA. Information relayed to Pamela Shafer via Gladys' niece, Beverly Liston.

Margaret Myers Phillips recalls being told they were from the Centre County region.

In the 1880 Census, daughter Susannah (Myers) Stoughton is residing in Lake City, KS and reports that her father was born in HOLLAND and her mother born in Penn.

There is also a Samuel Myers that arrived in the vicinity at roughly the same time as John, having migrated from Centre Co. area. It is possible that they were brothers/cousins, though this has not been proven.
