American Astronaut. He was the 3rd man to walk on the Moon. Conrad received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Princeton University in 1953, and held several honorary degrees. He was serving as a U.S. Naval aviator when recruited by NASA in 1962. He served aboard Gemini V and Gemini XI before becoming commander of Apollo XII, which accomplished the second lunar landing. During his final mission with NASA, Conrad served as commander of the first U.S. Space Station, Skylab II. After leaving NASA, Conrad worked in senior positions in several American corporations, including Douglas Aircraft and McDonnell-Douglas, with whom he helped develop the Space Exploration Initiative.
