On Tuesday, June 1, 2010 Shelby A. Anderson Jr. answered the Lord's call to come home.

Shelby was 99 years young, born on August 26, 1910 in Gary, WVA.

He was married to the late Annie Dell Galloway Anderson for 63 years.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby Sr. and Rose Anderson; three sisters, Annie Mae Anderson, Margaret Pannell, Rosie Richardson and one granddaughter, Kim Hooper.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Robert (Gloria) Anderson, Manassas, VA, Evelyn Hooper, Roanoke, VA, Gloria Watkins, Bronx, NY and Carmen (John) Goode, Bloomfield, CT; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jean Powell and Vera Galloway; one brother-in-law, Dennis (Jean) Galloway, all of Roanoke, VA and a host of other relatives and friends.

Shelby was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church family for over 30 years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Lee Lewis officiating.

Interment in Sherwood Memorial Park.

Friends called for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
