A Celebration of Life Service for Vernon Ross Bonner will be held Monday, May 20, 2002, at 11 AM in the Bonanza Community Church, with Pastor David McKay officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at the Bonanza Memorial Park Cemetery. At Vernon's request, there will be no visitation. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors. Lunch will be served at the back of the church following the services.

Vernon Ross Bonner, 58, a Bonanza resident, died May 15, 2002, at Portland. A cause of death was not provided.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bonanza Community Church, followed by graveside services at the Bonanza Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to join together at the church for lunch following the services.
Mr. Bonner was born June 23, 1943, in Albany, Calif. to Alvin and Winnie Bonner. After graduating from high School, Mr. Bonner served in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1971.
He was married to Jackie Downing Nov. 5, 1972, in Reno, Nev. After living in a number of areas, the couple settled in Bonanza last summer.
Mr. Bonner worked for a number of construction companies, and was a member of the Operation Engineers Local 3. He also was active in the Bonanza Community Church, teaching Sunday School, and was a leader within the AWANA Club. He enjoyed family outings, camping, fishing, golfing and working in his shop.
He is survived by his wife Jackie Bonner of Bonanza; children Michele Boyd of Milpitas, Calif., John Bonner of San Jose, Calif., Matthew Bonner of Bonanza; grandchildren Anthony Derrick and Brandon Bonner, both of Modesto, Calif., Rachelle Boyd and Heather Boyd, both of Milpitas; son-in-law Brad Boyd of Milpitas; daughter-in-law Charlene Craig of Modesto; brother James Bonner of Newark, Calif.; sister Laurel Cook of Riverside, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Georgia and Randy Sandler of Summerville, S.C.; brother-in-law Greg Downing of Sacramento, Calif.; father-in-law Ed Downing of Willits, Calif.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bonner was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Winnie Bonner.
