State Highway Patrol Trooper John H. Duncan Jr., 28, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, January 9, 2001, while assisting another trooper in a vehicle pursuit.
Trooper Duncan had been with the Highway Patrol for two years. He was in the Army for eight years, and was in the Special Forces.

The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2001 in Cumberland County Auditorium by the Rev. Steven Byrd. He was interred in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Trooper Duncan is survived by his wife, Kim L. Duncan of the home; two sons, John H. Duncan III of Naples, Fla., and Justin B. Duncan of the home; a daughter, Kayla L. Pfeifer of the home; his mother, Janice A. Thompson of Laurel, Miss.; and a sister, Shameka Clayton of Atlanta.
