William was the son of Dorothy G. McLean and the late Carson Goings (Sept. 17, 1935- July 9, 2001). He was killed by a hit-and-run-driver on Friday, September 3, 1993 in the Bonnettsville area of Clinton, North Carolina. "C-Boy" (as he is affectionately known) is survived by his mother, his daughter: Dorothy M. Owens; his sisters: Barbara McCollough (passed Dec. 30, 2004), Mary Dixon, and Pastor Cora Lee Frink; his brother: James Franklin Williams, and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
