Polish and Hungarian Monarch. He was the son of Charles I Robert and Elisabeth of Poland, a daughter of King Casimir III. He succeeded his father in 1342 in Hungary and his grandfather Casimir in 1370. He married first Margaret of Luxembourg, who died after five years of marriage. He married secondly Elisabeth of Bosnia, who bore him four daughters, of which two survived to adulthood.
