Kenneth, 87, of Jefferson, died at his home. He was born in Billings, Montana, the son of Guy Andrew and Ida (Lethcoe) Betts. He lived most of his life in Montana, residing in Oregon for the last 10 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received 2 Purple Hearts and 1 Bronze Star.
Kenneth married Elizabeth Carroll on January 26, 1973 in Cody, Wyoming.
He had worked for the phone company for 27 years and had been retired for 27 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, VFW, and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He will be remembered as the kindest, most gentle man who never seemed to get angry. He was active in Boy Scouts, enjoyed baseball and square dancing and most of all his family.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Betts of Jefferson, children, Charlotte Pancheau of Powers, OR, Marie Nottingham of Pensacola, Florida, Allen X Ray of Powers, OR. Kenneth C. Betts, Jr. of Rainier, OR, Thomas Betts of Langapo, Philippines and Donna Brown of Helena, MT, several adopted children, including, Richard Mabee and Walt Williams, 6 grandsons & 19 granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons & 14 great-granddaughters, and his brothers, Guy Betts of Bozeman, MT and Carl Betts of Worden, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold, Roland, Charlie, Jim, Eugene and Harry Betts and sisters, Mary Lilly, Violet Englert and Dorothy Johnson.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Helena, Montana.
