Murder Victim. Dennehy stood 6'10, weighed 230lbs, and played forward for the Baylor University Basketball Team in Waco, Texas. On June 12, 2003, Dennehy mysteriously disappeared, and on June 19, 2003, his family officially reported him as missing to the Waco Police Department, and they began an investigation. On June 25, 2003, Dennehy's Chevrolet Tahoe was found abandoned in a strip mall parking lot with the license plates missing in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A while later, a teammate of Dennehy's, Carlton Dotson, came forward and reportedly told investigators that he had shot Dennehy during a dispute at a firing range in Waco. At the time this wasn't taken seriously and no charges were filed. A couple of weeks later a 9mm pistol was found at an apartment complex in Waco, but it was not clear if it had anything to do with this case. Again Carlton Dotson came forward and insisted on talking to the FBI and the local police. It is not know what was exactly said but the police said it wasn't valuable information, nothing had changed since the last time he spoke. A few days later though Dotson was arrested and charged with Dennehy's murder although a body had not been found. The Waco police in the meantime had been searching an area where there was a gravel pit and they later announced that they did find a body, but did not speculate if it was Dennehy. After the discovery of a head the police announced on July 27, 2003, that the body they found was indeed Patrick Dennehy.
