The following obituary was published in the Independent-Observer ~ Conrad, Montana:

Funeral services for John (Jan in Dutch) Kaspersma Sr., 74, retired Conrad farmer were held from the Christian Reformed Church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. John Morrin officiated. Mr. Kaspersma died suddenly at the family home at 401 Wisconsin Street at 9:15 Friday morning.

He was born in Friesland, The Netherlands, August 14, 1880 and came with his parents to the United States when he was 3. The family settled in New Jersey. In 1908 Mr. Kaspersma moved to Manhattan, Montana, and there on March 10, 1910 he and Maggie Verwolf were married.

In 1913 he bought a farm four miles northeast of Conrad where the Kaspersma family lived until he retired in September, 1952 whereupon they moved into town.

Surviving are the widow; sons, John Jr., Leonard and Howard William, and a daughter, Dora, all of Conrad. A son and daughter preceded him in death. Several nieces and nephews also survive as does a brother-in-law George Verwolf of Manhattan who was here for the services.

Pallbearers were John VanDyke Sr., Adrian VanDyke, Abe Baker, John Mink, Albert Kaptein and Henry Kaptein.

Burial was in the family lot in Hillside Cemetery.
