John H. Goss, age 74, passed away on December 31, 2001 at Castleview Hospital in Price, Utah after a short illness.

He was born Sept. 2, 1927 in Fruita, Colorado, to Jehu Ambrose (Dade) Goss and Ruby Vida Thurstin. He married Laura Jane Whittingharn on April 25, 1952 in Aztec, N.M. They moved to the Price area in 1956, where they made their home for the past 46 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the submarine USS Sea Poacher during the latter part of WWII in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. He worked various occupations, including as a baker, logger and finally as a journeyman carpenter.

He was loved deeply by his family and friends and will be missed greatly. He would do anything for anyone and many people were the recipients of his great generosity.

Survived by his wife, Laura Goss, Price; son, Jonathan D. Goss, Rexburg, Idaho; daughters, Stacey and Terry Dalpiaz, Grand Junction, Colorado; Janie and Steve Jones, Sumner, Wash.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and sister, Reba Hawkins, Vernal. Preceded in death by parents; bother, Frank; and sisters, Thelma Pfaffenberger, Jewell Coleman and Rita Clark.

Graveside service Saturday, Jan. 5, 1 p.m., Elmwood Cemetery, Fruita, Colo., under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
