LaVerne Elise Byers, age 87 passed away on Jan. 5, 2010 in Rangley Colo. in her home.
Laverne is formerly of Vernal, Utah. Laverne was born on June 5, 1922 to Charles Edwin Sommerville and Elsie Rose Lytle. Laverne Married Leland Byers on Dec. 13, 1941.
LaVerne loved her family and loved cooking. She was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed sewing, reading books, music and the arts. She always represented herself as a lady.
Laverne is survived by her sons, Charles Leland (Kay) Byers, Mark Reed (Beverly) Byers, Fred Leo (Merrie) Byers, and David Lloyd (Cathi) Byers; and daughters, Merry Lynn (Wes) Lifferth, and Sherry Lee (Paula) Pilcher; and her brothers, Leo and Lloyd Summerville.
Laverne has 29 Grandchildren and 31 Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sisters Lorene Nicholls and Leona Porter.
Interment in the Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colo. In Lieu of flowers Donations can be made to Eagle Crest Residents, 222 Eagle Crest Drive Rangely, Colo. 81648
