Eldest child of William Franklin and Mary (Fickle) Harvey, she was born on the family farmstead on what is now Ohio Route 4 north of Marion. The late David McWherter - related through Minerva's brother Clay Harvey - said his Grandmother Nellie Harvey McWherter related that in her youth, Minerva was said to have been "Incandescent, fiery and flirtatious."

Entered into a common-law marriage with John Thomas Monnett in Illinois in 1863; the two were married under the laws of the State of Ohio in the late spring of 1865.

Mother of Byron, Eva, Lola and Charlotte (Lottie) Monnett.

She died of breast cancer in 1909.
