Rev. Jack Oliver, age 82, of South Haven passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at his home. The family will meet friends 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Anchor Baptist Church, South Haven where funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday with Pastor Theron W. Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Monks Cemetry. The family suggests memorials be made to either Anchor Baptist Church or South Haven Area Hospice. Arrangements by Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home. Jack was born June 7, 1926 in Lothair, Kentucky, the son of George and Viola (Taylor) Oliver, and grew up in Kentucky and the Port Huron area. He was a veteran of WWII with the US Navy, a former pastor of several churches in the Port Huron area, and retired from full time preaching in 1991 from Maple Grove Bible Church in South Haven. He was an avid fisherman in the big lake for perch and a fisherman of souls. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, whom he married May 22, 1944; 3 sons, Gary Oliver of South Haven, Ronald (Carol) Oliver of South Haven; Timothy (Billie) Oliver of Kendallville, IN; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Paul (Fern) Oliver of San Antonio, TX; Sylvester Oliver of Spartanburg, SC; George (Pat) Oliver of Avoca, MI; a sister, Carolyn (Stanley) Lash of Marysville, MI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jacqueline Oliver, Francis Marie Oliver Hall; granddaughter, Kimi Marie Hall; great grandson, Connor Longmore; 2 brothers, Bruce and Walter Oliver; and a sister, Lona Lucille Oliver.
