HAWTHORNE, N.Y. — Sister Mary Claver Aguglia OP (Camille B. Aguglia) died on April 13, 2009, at 5 p.m. at Rosary Hill Home in New York after an extended illness.

She was born May 23, 1918, in Waterbury, to Stefano Aguglia and Antonia Frascatore. Sister worked as a bookkeeper until she entered the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne on Nov. 1, 1951. She made her profession of vows on Sept. 14, 1953. Sister served at Rose Hawthorne Lathrop Home in Fall River, Mass., for three years, and then was assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta, Ga., for four years.

In 1960, Sister was assigned to St. Rose's Home in New York City where she cared for our residents and cooked for many years. She remained at St. Rose's until March 12, 2009, when she was transferred to Rosary Hill Home.

Two nephews, Allen and Kathleen Oxsalida of Branford, and Stephen and Michelle Oxsalida of Tampa, Fla., survive her. Seven nieces and nephews also survive her.

Sister Claver will be reposing today in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
