Sister Maria Cecilia Adorni, A.S.C.J., a principal and teacher who served in the archdiocese, died Dec. 18 at Sacred Heart Manor in Hamden, Conn. She was 103.
She served at Our Lady of Pompeii School in Greenwich Village, and St. Joseph's, Monroe Street, both in Manhattan, and at Sacred Heart Private School in the Bronx. She also served at schools in Pennsylvania and Missouri.
She did parish work in Connecticut and Florida.
Born in Rochester, she entered the Congregation of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in New Haven, Conn., in 1925 and professed final vows in 1933. She served on the congregation's provincial council from 1961 to 1968.
She had resided at Sacred Heart Manor since 1988.
She held a bachelor's degree in education from Mount Mercy College (now Carlow College) in Pittsburgh.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 23 at Sacred Heart Manor. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven, Conn.
