20th July 1920.
Patrick Lackey of Ballina died on 25 July 1920, at the Union Hospital, Ballina, Co. Mayo.
He was aged 40, married, a Labourer.
The cause of death, as stated on the certificate was "Pulmonary Phthisis" which he had for 3 years.
The informant of his death was John O'Hora, the person in charge of the Union Workhouse, Ballina.
Pulmonary Phthisis was the medical term for Tuberculosis or Consumption.
It can be reasonably inferred from the information above that Patrick Lackey developed the condition during his service in World War 1, and that the authorities recognised this by classing his post-war death as being caused as a result of his service.
It is known that he was married shortly before his death. The name of his wife is not yet known.
