Animal Actor. Lassie I, who's real name was Pal, was trained by animal breeder Rudd Weatherwax, who obtained Pal from a friend as an owed debt. Pal went onto appear as 'Lassie' in the film "Lassie Come Home" in 1943, and the television series, "Lassie" from 1954 to 1974. In all, there have been 9 Lassies in over 50 years, all from the same family. Pal was privately buried by Rudd Weatherwax himself out on his ranch in a special place, and he would often visit the grave.
