DOROTHY ANN BABCOCK

Dorothy Ann Babcock, 85, passed away on July 19 at home in West Linn, where she had lived for the past three years.
She was born April 30, 1925, in Omaha, Neb., to Ernest and Irene Bostwick Drishaus. She graduated from Omaha University in 1947, and married Jack Halliday Babcock in December of 1948.
She worked as a psychometrist for the Omaha Public Schools and retired to Green Valley, Ariz., in 1982. Jack and Dottie celebrated their 60th anniversary together in 2007.
She was a creative, curious, energetic and fun individual, whose diverse interests included dancing, hiking (she received her 2,500 mile patch) and serving as a swimnastics instructor. She was wonderful, loving mother, and also found time to share with her dear friends, participate in book club, garden, cook and become a painter and skillful clay artist.
She is survived by: her son, Gary H. Babcock; daughter, Linda Traeger and her partner Dorrie Clark; and granddaughter, Sara Ann Babcock Gilbert and her husband, Jeff Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her much loved sister, Elizabeth (Liza) DeVoe Crampton and her husband Jack.
She will be placed at Willamette National Cemetery with her husband. A private family service will be held at a later date at Madera Canyon, Green Valley, Ariz.
Remembrances may be made to Providence Willamette Falls Hospice, Friends of Madera Canyon or the Salvation Army.
