Flight Lieutenant Arnold was one of three men (two RAF servicemen and one civilian) who perished when 217 Squadron's newly-built Lockheed Hudson Mk.V AE640 aircraft, which they were ferrying from the Lockheed factory in the USA to the British Isles, crashed on the south-east side of the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland. The aircraft had already flown across the United States, Canada and the Atlantic Ocean and had made a stop at Limavady, near Londonderry in Ireland; the plan was to fly on to Prestwick in Scotland, the final destination. On 25 July 1941 the Hudson took flight from Limavady, in spite of a poor weather forecast given for the western Scotland area. It is thought that rain and low cloud impaired visibility, resulting in the aircraft's crashing.

Flight Lieutenant Keith Fergus Arnold is commemorated on Page 609 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.

He is also commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

And he is commemorated on Saskatchewan's Virtual War Memorial; Saskatchewan's Arnold Lake is named in his honour--to remember his service and sacrifice.
