BIOGRAPHY: Samuel was a mason by trade. He made the brick and built many of the homes in Minersville as well as the old Relief Society building. The Relief Society paid him with produce from their gardens and farms. He and his father built the old charcoal burners at Frisco.
He was also a Pony Express rider. His route from Minersville to Deseret Springs, known later as Modena. He would make the run in eight hours; he usually served the night shift.
He served as president of Minersville first dramatic troupe.
Once he and his father were camping out and they made their bed by a large rock chimney. They were almost ready for bed when something told them to move their bed. At first, they thought it was nothing but, as the warning was repeated, they finally heeded it. A strong wind came up and toppled the old chimney to the ground, just where their bed had been.
Samuel and his wife, Alice, spent their declining years with their son, Will.
