AUGUSTA - Marion Elizabeth Lamon (Collins) died Jan. 26, 2015 in Augusta, Maine. She was born July 19, 1913 in Saranac Lake, New York to Lyman Milo and Maud Stella Collins.

Marion had an opportunity to travel the world where her husband's job with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service took them. After Mr. Robert T. Lamon's retirement they settled for many years in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.

Marion was a "life-long learner". She was an excellent homemaker and always put her family first. She was an expert in many types of handwork. Marion could tailor suits, quilt, crotchet, bead formals and smocking. After her mother died, when she was a child, she was put to work in a boarding home that took care of TB patients. Saranac Lake was known around the world for the "fresh air cure" for tuberculosis. There were many "cure cottages" in the area. She also worked in her sister, Edna's, nursing home during World War II, when her husband was serving in the Pacific. She had the powers of long concentration and determination. Marion was a role model for right living and integrity.

Mrs. Lamon was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Church but was unaffiliated with a church. At the time of her death, she was ministered to by the Hospice Chaplain.

She is survived by her son Robert L. Lamon of Longview, Texas, her daughter, Stephanie Eve Harkness and son- in-law James A. Harkness of Winthrop, Maine. She is also survived by her sister, Edna O. Murray and niece Penny Sarantakis of Sequim, Wash.; a cousin by marriage and loyal friend, Melba Kundly of Arlington,Va. and her daughter Nancy Jones.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Lamon; a brother, Charles Collins and two sisters, Mildred Cassavaugh and infant sister Juanita Alva Collins.

Marion will be cremated at Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast, and her ashes interred with her husband at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.
