Sgt. William R. Moody, 30, of Burleson, Texas, all assigned to 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo. He died June 18, in Bagram, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with indirect fire. William was born Jan. 25, 1983, in Bellville, Ill., to Jeanette and Bill Moody. He graduated from Burleson High School in 2002. A year later he joined the Marine Corps in May 2003. He deployed twice to Iraq, and was honorably discharged in 2007. He married Lacy Moody in 2008, and shortly after joined the Army. He was on his second tour in Afghanistan. William was a devoted husband, father and son. He enjoyed spending every moment he could with his family and was looking forward to moving to Fort Hood after his deployment. He had a great sense of humor and a smile that lit up the room. His friends described him as a great guy who would always try to cheer you up if you were feeling down. William's children were his world, and he spoke fondly of them anytime he got the chance.
