Sgt. Tommy L. Latham of Delmar, Maryland grew up on the Eastern Shore and graduated from Wicomico High School in 2002. He joined the Army in September 2002 and completed basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning and deployed with his unit to Iraq in August 2006. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart Award, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Driver Badge. He is survived by his wife and two young children. Prior to his deployment to Iraq, he served a stint in Afghanistan. He was 23.
