Alvin E. “Pete” Adkins, 86, of Stuart, formerly of Collinsville passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Stuart. Pete was born in Bassett on January 9, 1929 to the late James Adam Adkins and the late Lessie Mae Hollandsworth Adkins. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife Pearlie Cassady Adkins; brothers, Shelburn Adkins and Simmons Adkins; sister, Frances Hundley. Pete served his country in the Army and was a supervisor at DuPont for 33 years.
Pete is survived by son, Al Adkins and his wife, Sandy of Stoneville, NC; daughter, Melise A. Murphy and her husband, Larry; grandchildren, Laura Roberson and John Simpson; great grandchildren, Skylin Roberson, Fisher Barrett, Lily Barrett and Jack Simpson and sister, Rosa Pilson of Eden, NC.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm with Pastor Blake Edwards officiating. Burial will be private at Roselawn Burial Park.
