Dorothy was the daughter of William and Dorothy Sikes. Her grandparents were Walter & Jeane (Biggs) Sikes Sr.

The patriarch of the Sikes line in America was John Sikes who was from Markfield, Leicester, England and came to VA in 1637.

Dorothy was one of ten children. They were:

1. Dorothy, m. Anthony Curling Jr
2. Mary
3. Ruth, m. Unknown Gammon
4. Lydia
5. Henry, m. Sarah
6. William
7. Nathaniel
8. Joel (Sr)
9. Jane
10. Agnes, m. Joseph Curling

Dorothy married Anthony Curling Jr. The couple had nine children:

1. Labin
2. Henry, m. Dorathy
3. Josiah, m. Mary Duke
4. Mary
5. Barbary
6. Frances
7. Martha
8. Lydia, m. 1803 Benjamin Miller
9. Keziah, m. 1806 Cary Sikes

Anthony Curling's will was proved 15 Jan 1789 in Norfolk County Court... This date is about 17 years after it was written which leads us to believe they filed the will after the death of wife Dorothy Sikes Curling, possibly to get affairs in order for the family to inherit from her estate (no will)

While there is no record of Dorothy's burial, it is possible she was buried in the St Bride's Church burial ground (now Chesapeake, VA).
