Casualty of the Great War, Clara held the rank of "Worker" - Service No: 2108 in Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps. She was 32 and died just days before the Armistice.She was the daughter of Henry Whitmore Baker-Gosling and Clara Baker-Gosling.

Clara enlisted in London. She gave her father as her next of kin. She is commemorated on the Brightlingsea war memorial as Clara B. Gosling. She is also commemorated on the grave of her parents in the churchyard of All Saints Church, Brightinglingsea and a Roll of Honour within the church. The plinth on the grave marker of her parents is inscribed "In loving memory of Clara Baker-Gosling Q.M.A.A.C., died Nov. 7th 1918, aged 32 years. Buried at St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen".
