Violet Libby, 94, Lee's Summit, MO died January 14, 2007, at Saint Luke's East Hospital, of pneumonia. Memorial services will be Thursday, January 18, 2007, 2:00PM at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Floral Hills Chapel. Visitation one hour before the service. Violet was born January 27, 1912, in Kansas City MO, to Martha Ann Fischer and Skelton Coleman Martin. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1929. She married Louis Edwin "Nick" Libby in 1933. He preceded her in death May 7,1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Martha Ann, sisters, Liesel Martin, Elsie McDaniel, Edna Selecman, and twin sister, Virgie Coleman. Brothers, John, Willie, Lee and Charles Martin, and son-in-law, Bobby Pate. Survivors are her son, Robert E. Libby, West Valley, UT, daughter, Sharon Scott, Gordon, TX, daughter, Rhoda Pate, Lee's Summit, MO., brother, Gordon E. Martin, Columbia, MO. She also leaves nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The family requests contributions to Children's Memorial Lutheran Church, 5001 Independence, Ave., Kansas City, MO 64124 or charity of choice.
