This is my Uncle Nelson who was an Infantryman in the US Army and died while crossing the Rhine River in Germany during WWII.

He was the son of Amanda Ullman HUDLOW Arnold and Charles David Arnold and the brother of William Adam (Bill) Arnold and Nadine ARNOLD May. His grandparents were William Henry Arnold and Malissa Ann COBLER Arnold and William Wright Hudlow and Eliza Jane GAROUTTE Hudlow.

Uncle Nelson was named in honor of his father's uncle, Nelson Cobler.

He married Frankie LEWIS on October 9, 1939 and was the father of three children, Joyce, Joe, and Nelson Lehman "Mickey" Arnold.

Before going to war, he had worked for Butler Shoe Shop in Jonesboro, AR and was the manager of the shoe department at the Wallace-Brownbilt Shoe Company, also, in Jonesboro, AR where he and his family lived.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Clint Edmond Arnold.

Uncle Nelson's survivors included his wife, children, parents, one brother, and his sister. Uncle Nelson was very much loved and missed by his family and all who knew him.

(The body of my uncle, PFC Nelson Arnold, formerly of Jonesboro, Arkansas, arrived in West Plains, Missouri on Thursday, June 2, 1949. Funeral services were held in Pottersville, Missouri on Sunday, June 5, 1949.)
