On Aug. 13, 1938, she married G. L. Abney. He died on Nov. 7, 1997.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1915, in Wasson, to the late John and Mary (Marchig) Franz. She retired as secretary from Metropolitan Life Insurance.
Mrs. Abney was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Harrisburg and the Altar Society.
Surviving are a sister, Esther and husband, Joe Chiado of East Alton; two nieces, Barbara and husband, J.W. Pulliam of Galatia and Donna and husband, Nelson Gregory of East Alton; nephew, Daniel and wife, Jennifer Franz, West Palm Beach, Fla.; great-nephews, Alan and wife, Angie Pulliam of Harrisburg; great-great-nephew, Daniel Ryan Franz; three great-great-nieces, Caitlyn Franz, Austyn and Shea Pulliam and three sisters-in-law, Pearl Sisk of Junction, Janice Herron, Ocala, Fla., and Helen Mitsdarffer of Ridgway.
She was preceded in death of two brothers, Elmer Franz and John Franz, and a sister, Carmela Bordon.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Stallings will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Christian Wake at 7 p.m.Donations may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center.
