Of Dallasania
Community, Dies
John Barter, 73, well know farmer who resided in Dallasania community who had been at the Lightner hospital critically ill for several days, died at noon today. Peritonitis and complications following ruptured appendix caused his death.
he was the father of Jewell D. Barter, and Mrs. Earl Owen, Harrisburg, Rue Barter, Stonefort, and Mrs. John (Madge) Lang, Dixon. All of the children were at his bedside during his fatal illness, also his wife, the former Agnes Garrison.
He was a brother of Mrs. Harve A. Murphy, Mrs. G. O. Davenport, Miss Nellie Barter, Mrs. Lucy Owens and Ed Barter, all residing in or near Harrisburg, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. barter. His father was Sheriff of Saline county during his lifetime.
Mr. Barter was a member of North America Baptist church, and a former member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.
His body was taken to the Gibbons funeral home and tentative plans are to hold his funeral Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in this city. Burial will be at Sunset Hill cemetery.
