My Grandmother

She was born and raised in Oglethorpe County Georgia, the daughter of William H. Harris and Mattie Tiller Harris. Stella was one of eleven children.

On November 9, 1899, she married Duncan Fletcher Wilson, (a widower with a six month old baby boy.) They later had three more children, Delpha, Feb. 4, 1902; Octavia, May 22, 1905 and Lollie, March 15, 1908.

She, like so many other women in her age group, was a homemaker, a mother and a farmers wife. Although she didn't work in the fields, she always had a big vegetable garden, and a raised a few chickens. She enjoyed going to church, having company, playing match maker and listening to "Stella Dallas" on the radio.
