She was born on Monday, 12 September 1910 in Oakland, California and was the daughter of Bernard J. Koch and Juliana Koch.
Gertrude's parents had emigrated from Germany three years before her birth.
She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School and worked for eleven years for several insurance companies in San Francisco.
Some of her fondest memories were of those years, proud to have held a job during the Great Depression and making many friends playing bridge on the ferry to San Francisco.
Gertrude was the wife of Wilfred Henry Winkenbach, a limited partner in the Oakland Raiders and the inventor of Fantasy Football.
Mrs. Winkenbach is survived by her children, Gerald Winkenbach and Patricia Winkenbach.
