A host of Rochester friends early today were shocked at the news of the death of Guy R. MOORE, 36, which occurred 6:45 Monday evening at the St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Moore, who with his family reside at 5725 Lowell Ave., Indianapolis, had been taken to the hospital Saturday evening suffering from influenza and attending physicians late Monday afternoon reported he was well on his way to recovery, however, he suffered a heart attack and passed away within a few moments.
Guy, who was a graduate of RHS had many friends throughout Rochester and Fulton county and through his business activities in later years he had acquired a legion of friends and business associates over both Indiana and Ohio.
He was born in Rochester on November 4, 1913, the son of Levi P. and Lillian M. (HARDING) MOORE. Soon after his graduation from RHS he attended DePauw and Indiana University, where he was a member of the Sigma Deltas. On January 20, 1935, he was united in marriage with Charlotte K. CHESTNUT, of this city, the ceremony being performed at Kokomo, Ind. For ten years Mr. Moore was sales manager for Coca Cola at Indianapolis; later he accepted a position as sales manager for the Culligan Water Softener Co., of Middletown, Ohio. For the past few years he was serving as the sales manager for the British Motors, Inc., in the Indianapolis territory.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Rochester Presbyterian church.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Larry Stephen [MOORE], 9; a daughter, Stephany Lee [MOORE], 13; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy PRESECAN, 5769 North Keystone, Indianapolis and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Levi P. MOORE, of this city.
Brief funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Moore and Kirk funeral home, 5342 E. Washington street, Indianapolis. The Rev. CLOSTERHOUSE, of the Irvington Presbyterian church will officiate.
The body will then be brought to the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home this city to lie in state from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside rites will be conducted 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, here.
The family requests that floral offerings be sent direct to the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home rather than to Indianapolis.
