Son of Michael Connolly, of 16, Basin Street, Dublin.

Son of Michael Connolly and Agnes Connolly, formerly Kelly.
His birth does not seem to have been registered.

In the 1901 census, the family were living at 30 Usher's Quay, Dublin
This was a tenement building which housed 7 families comprising 36 people
The Connolly family lived in 1 room
present were,
Michael Connolly, aged 40, a Brewer's Labourer, married
Agnes, his wife, aged 37, married,
Michael, son, aged 11,
Charles, son, aged 9,
Edward, son, aged 1.

Agnes Connolly died on 5 December 1910, aged 45, from Tuberculosis.

In the 1911 census, the Connolly family lived at 7a Upper Basin Street, Dublin. The family of 5 lived in 2 rooms in a multi-tenanted building.
Michael Connolly [snr] was a 51 year old Brewery Labourer [probably at Arthur Guinness & Son which was nearby].
He was a widower.
Annie, daughter, aged 25,
Michael [jnr] was said to be a 21 year old unemployed General Labourer.
John, son, aged 8,
Joseph, son, aged 5.

Death.
Leo Connolly, aged 26, a bachelor, an Ex-Soldier, from 15 Upper Basin Street, Dublin, died on 23 February 1919, at the South Dublin Union Workhouse.
The cause of death was General Tuberculosis, certified.
His death was registered on 24 Febryary 1919, by P.R. Hennessy, of the South Dublin Union.
On 25 February 1919, the certificate was amended to read Michael Leo Connolly, on production of a Statutory Declaration from his sister Annie O'Neill.
