Greer, Vernon Claire, age 79 and Rose Marie, age 78 passed away within three hours of each other after 59 years of marriage. Vernon died on July 11 and Rose Marie on July 12, 2010 both at Allegiance Health Hospital in Jackson both of natural causes. Vernon was born on April 11, 1931 in Jackson and Rose Marie on April 19, 1932 in Detroit. They were married on May 15, 1951 on the Marine Base in Parris Island, SC. Vernon was a U.S. Marine and served our country proudly. He was employed as an industrial mechanic until his retirement. Rose Marie was a loving and dedicated homemaker to her husband and five sons. They will be sadly missed by their friends and family.
The Greer's are survived by their children: Dennis (Julie) Greer of Jerome, MI, Rick (Susan) Greer of Aiken, SC and Jamie (Renee) Greer of Mcdonough, GA; 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Mr. & Mrs. Greer were preceded in death by their sons: Gary and Kevin Greer and infant daughter Judith Marie.
In honor of Vernon and Rose Marie, memorial donations may be given to the Allegiance Hospital Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. A Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m. at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.
