She then met Roger Yu one winter day in 1970, and they were married in Indianapolis, IN, August 14, 1971. She is survived by her husband; and two loving daughters, Nancy (Mike) Kung, and Olivia Yu of East Lansing; her father, Chih Hwang of Taipei, Taiwan; sisters, Maria Chen-Chi Hwang of Taipei, Jen (Gin) Liaw of Decatur, IL, and Margaret (David) Wang of Naperville, IL; as well as many nieces and nephews. After Jen received her Masters degree in Biochemistry, she worked at Indiana University Medical School, University of Pennsylvania Children's Hospital, Wyeth Lab, and Pharmacia & Upjohn for the last 16 years, before retiring from Pfizer in 2003. She contributed to the fields of diabetes, central nervous system, and metabolic diseases during her 28 years of medical and pharmaceutical research. Jen enjoyed traveling with her family, growing fruits and Chinese vegetables in her backyard, and performing Chinese folk-dances with her friends from Kalamazoo, MI. She was able to travel to places far and wide, including hikes on the glaciers of Alaska, the coves of Nova Scotia, the fishing villages of the Netherlands, Hong Kong, China, as well as many United States national parks. She will be remembered for her selflessness, warm smile, inner strength and grace. Always quick to point out the good in others, she had a quiet confidence and unparalleled inner and outer beauty that inspired others around her. She was a strong supporter of her friends and family in more ways than can ever be described
