RICHARD BEST KILLED IN VIETNAM
Word has been received on the death in hostile action in Vietnam of Spec. 4 Richard James Best Jr., Sept. 7.
Spec. 4 Best, son of Richard Best and Delphinia Hanson Thumm, was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Kalispell. He attended school in the Evergreen District and Flathead High School, later moving to Seattle, Wash., to work for a time and then back to Kalispell.
He worked at the Anaconda Aluminum Plant prior to leaving for the service April 17, 1968. On June 5, 1969, he went overseas.
Surviving Spec. 4 Best are his parents; two sisters, Kathy Lynn and Gwyn Lee, both of Kalispell; a half-sister, Heidi Best in Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Timothy Michael of Kalispell and Denzel Richard in the Green Berets in Germany; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Orin Best of Condon and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Syth of Sandpoint, Idaho; and grandfather, Denzel Dickson of Square Butte; and several nieces and nephews.
Service time will be announced by the Waggener & Campbell Funeral Home.
