The SS Haverford was a transatlantic liner that was requisitioned as a troop transport ship at the start of World War 1. I was hit by a torpedo from German Submarine U-94, off the coast of Donegal, and suffered heavy damage.
Seven member of the crew are buried here in Cockhill.
In the 1911 census, the Boyle family were living at Casey's Place, Dundalk.
