HMS Laurentic was a passenger ship of the White Star Line, which was requisitioned as a troop carrying ship for the Canadian Expeditionary Forces at the beginning of World War 1.
She was converted into a defensively armed merchant ship. She hit two mines when near Lough Swilly, Donegal, and sank within an hour.
There were 474 onboard, of whom only 121 survived.
