A memorial service for Jerald Dibbles, a Dallas Fire Department recruit who died after collapsing during a training run, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. He will be buried Saturday in Giddings, Texas, where he had family.
Mr. Dibbles, 23, died Monday at Baylor University Medical Center. No final determination has been made about the cause of death, but tests have pointed to rhabdomyolysis, a disease associated with sickle cell anemia.
The Dallas native is survived by his mother, Jeanette Dibbles of Dallas; father, Donald Dibbles of Giddings; and brother Brian Dibbles of Giddings.
