Noah Chandler Collier JR, earned the Distinguished Service Cross for valor and heroism while he swam 20 meters through a barrage of enemy bullets, in an attempt to save his squad leader, Sgt John Geisen, who had been shot and went below the water. During his futile attempt to save Sgt Geisen, Collier was also shot, and ultimately lost his life on Oct 26, 1966.
Just three days prior, Noah had saved the life of his platoon leader, William Hawkinberry, when a rope broke while crossing a river.
Noah leaves behind his wife, Shirley and his mother Mildred.
Noah served in Co A, 1st BN, 8th Cav, 1st Dav Div.
His name is forever engraved on Wall panel 11E108.
